A bit of background
- There are fifty two Representatives (Councillor or as in US Congress member) in the world, ten in China or should I say Chinese, all of them surpasses advance war god level. their status are below Hong and Leishen, if a war god kills another war god, they will be sentenced to death but if a Representative kills a war god then at most they will be imprisoned for a few years. Naturally if Hong or Leishen kills anyone, no one will say anything lol
- Xu Xin flew back immediately from Kyoto forgetting to wear warm clothes, and was waiting for him outside his residential area when she called him, and it was wintery cold (I dont get it since Kyoto would be just as cold). it is one of those moments where Luo Feng realises that he isnt worthy of Xu XIn. He was apologising not just because he was missing for over a year but also for making her wait in the cold
- "I have a suggestion...." which was
Luo Feng is going to be promoted to representative, this is why Luo Feng got off easily even though he did attacked the couple and why the couple were sentenced to death

In my opinion, the reason why Luo Feng prolonged the fight rather than finish it within a few seconds was because of a few reasons (since the novel didnt explain it)
1. Black God Armour set
2. Luo Feng wanted to inflict as much damage and pain to the couples for what they have done to his family (this is the important one) If you notice during the fight, Luo Feng was smirking when they couple almost hits him, my guess is that he was toying with them
3. To see how strong he has become, so in a way he is testing and training himself
4. Long fight means more tension and excitement, kind of like a man lasting 3 seconds compared with lasting for an hour with a woman intimately, you aint gonna impress a woman with that 3 seconds (or man however you fancy)

And it looks like a lot of changes in the next episode
But from the novel
- The couple were arrested at Paris airport by four Representatives including their benefactor Representative Yan Hai
- Luo Feng becomes a Representative and Hong gives him a title of Inspector, the sixth Inspector in Wuxian Hall
- A Council meeting is assembled consisting of fifty two Representative and five Speakers (The novel translator calls them Chairmens)
- The couple were sentenced to death for the actions against Luo Feng's family
- Luo Feng asks Xu Xin to sleep over, to which she tells him in his dreams. She then tells him her plans to start a company of her own and stop studying
- The couple were then taken to the wilderness to be executed by two Representatives and Luo Feng. Venina is decapitated, and Li Yao breakthrough to the Surpassing Advanced War God level due to his rage and escapes, no one was able to stop him because Li Yao unique ability manifested as the speed of light or close to it
- Luo Feng chases him and finally kills him

Damn its just the thought of them escaping make my blood boil over, I know they won't get far by what you had mentioned, but man just them see'n another day like it was satisfying for him to get some justice beat'n the dog shit outta him, and his wife. However I wanted him to mangle cripple the F outta him then some broken bones, and ribs. Like I know it sound F'd up, but I will gladly smile from ear to ear at their death scene :).

Just think of it this way, Luo Feng wanted to inflict pain and injuries to them, which is why he smirks when fighting with them like he is toying with them lol

If you look carefully and give Luo Feng a longer hair, and pink outfit and change the voice from Oscar to Xiao Wu's you can really imagine him as Xiao Wu :P

He can't, he's using a lot of focus on the binding net and his weapons, plus it's in her hand and she can easily detonate it at the slightest wrong move.

Considering he was using his weapons to cut his hair he could aim for the tendons in her wrist. However, considering there is such a thing as the deadmans trigger, I doubt he wanted to chance that as his anger was hindering his ability to think clearly.

To create tension. They assume their audiences to be kids who aren't aware of how plots develop. This would be my guess.

This actually happens in the webnovel and is not the team trying to create unnecessary tension. In fact, a lot of the cliff hangers that are supposed to create tension actually happen in the webnovel. Also, with how short episodes are, it would be hard to not have cliff hangers like this and still convey most of what happened in the novel.

I never said it doesn't happen in the web-novel. Creating tension (drama) is central to fiction writing in all mediums. I am not against it. In fact, in the Japanese manga and anime industry, such strategies are increasingly deployed. When it comes to the Chinese web-novel and donghua though, character development occurs at an exponential rate while avoiding the clichés of conventional story writing. Therefore, when one finds an unwarranted/redundant scene in a donghua, one is more likely to feel disappointed. This feeling is perhaps further fuelled by the short runtime of the episodes. In this particular case, the rescheduling of episode release owing to COVID-related production delays and the anxiety of having limited episodes per season could also have been possible influences.

When I say they assume their audience to be kids, I have two factors in mind. Firstly, majority of audience for anime falls in between 13-17 years of age (based on figures published by Crunchyroll). Although differences may exist, we can reasonably argue that donghuas cater to a similar audience. Adolescents are generally not aware of different variations of dramatic arcs utilized in stories across the world. They also have substantial academic responsibilities. To them, the cliff-hanger can indeed fuel anticipation while simultaneously sitting comfortably with their busy schedule. Secondly, I find such conflicts to be condescending as we all know how it's all gonna turn out. Regardless, as I am yet to watch the episode, I am not sure how I feel about it.

Damn! I wish they called that AI Babata like in the light novel. This might cause a lot of confusion later as Huyan Bo is the name of the owner who built that AI not the name of the actual AI itself. Also when he came out he hadn't had a shower and was unkempt they couldn't even recognize him at first cause he literally looked like a cave man lol! they should have kept that scene as it was instead of changing it to the modern one where he actually kempt himself. Babata or the AI is going to be as vital to Luo Feng's growth as the shuttle if they stay true to the story! I hope they don't skip his dialogues with the AI.
